Efficiency Culture
A culture is made up of basic assumptions (values, beliefs, attitudes, norms, behaviour patterns) that are shared and adopted by individuals to cope with internal and external pressure.
Understanding culture helps to know why people do what they do and achieve what they achieve.
To remain competitive, an employee, entrepreneur, student or individual must constantly evaluate its values and practices, to ensure they align with top end strategy
It is said that the human brain thinks randomly, with little guide, unfocused and not strategic.
Many individuals are used to this, thus develop their own thinking habits unconsciously. Sometimes, due to their exposure or education, such thinking habits are effective, and other times are not.
Situations where individuals do not clarify its own culture and approach to handling tasks and roles, inefficiency in different activities begin to surface.
Inefficiency in tasks and roles can be found where:-
- There is no means of measuring the completion of goals carried out by all the employees in the department or organization
- There is no means of measuring the completion of daily tasks carried out by all individuals
- There is no clear understanding of the needs of the customer
- Someone is new on the job, by the way he/she handles their tasks
- The organization isn’t sure of what the expectations of their employees are, towards them.
- There is no efficiency standards that must be meet within the organization every year
- Employees don’t have the same amount of information / understanding as their supervisor do about the department and its affairs?
- Supervisors don’t have the same amount of information / understanding as their managers do about the department and its affairs?
- The necessary areas of essentials is not communicated properly to each employee
- Change Management exercises are not frequently practiced
